ShapeShifter borrows the structure and aesthetic of a pop music video; colorful animations and titles are juxtaposed onto a series of rhythmic images of someone dancing in front a zebra background. The video oscillates between a deceptively superficial representation, and a naive and authentic performance. Appearing as a karaoke sequence “I’ve got the beat and the rhythm to reach a new mysticism” functions as a disclaimer suggesting that the images to follow may contain some kind of transcendental revelation.
